This was an insightful mod. I had no idea there were so many search engines out there. And I know we're just scratching the surface. I also learned that all search engines are different. Even though I checked out many new ones, specifically ones that just search images for 5_1, I still will first turn to my favorite search engine, Bing, for most inquiries, because it is broad. However, if I have a particular search need, I now know that there are tons of other alternatives out there that may be more appropriate for my search. I already found some great resources for 11_1 on alternate search engines and databases. I see the need for being familiar with these in a school setting. Unfortunately, as I go through this course, it is becoming clearer that school library is not for me. But I have realized I can utilize all of this technology and these resources I'm learning about to be awesome when I return to teaching. I'm thinking now I may like teaching U.S. History or other social studies online. I could really make it fun with Web 2.0 and all I've learned in this class so far. And I'm excited to learn even more and put it into practice. So this is a good thing.

Jen, I am sorry I missed this reflection earlier. Would you like to chat? I am really concerned about why you think library is not for you. I hope it is not because of this one class! joyce
